In 2011, Simon completed a PhD at the University of Sydney. In 2005 Simon created Kimnara Records, an independent record label presenting new music by Australian improvisers. Since returning home in 1990 he has performed and conducted workshops throughout Australia, Europe, Asia and the USA with a wide range of artists.
